GROUP GUITAR

Who:
1st Semester:
Homeschool students ages 12-18.
2nd Semester:
Returning guitar students. New students who are playing at the same level as the group guitar class
that have auditioned with Rebecca Freidel.
When: Wednesdays
1st Semester:
September 11 - December 11, 2024 (no rehearsal on November 26th)
2nd Semester:
January 15 - April 9, 2025 (there are no skipped rehearsals this semester)
Time: See below. 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 depending on skill level
Where: Black Hills Community Church (618 E. Elk St. Rapid City)
Cost: $100 + $25 yearly insurance/cleaning fee due at first rehearsal
The $25 yearly fee covers our cleaning cost as well as the liability insurance we now have to carry.
Concert Dress: White shirt, black pants, black shoes and socks. No logos on shirts.
Supply list: (what you must bring to class): Students will need to have a 6 string acoustic guitar (electric guitars will not be used for this class), a folding music stand, a guitar foot rest, a tuner, 5 guitar picks, a 3 ring binder with 6 plastic sleeves, and 2 pencils.

***All students should arrive 10 minutes before rehearsal time, and be set up and ready to play at 8:20.
***All cell phones MUST be turned off and stored in instrument cases during rehearsals.
***Children must remain in the building at all times from the time they are dropped off until they are picked up. We are not allowing any outside play.
***We are in a church who has graciously allowed us to use their space. Please take off shoes and boots at the door if they are muddy.
***Please always check the Facebook page if you have any questions regarding cancellations due to inclement weather. We will keep that page updated during the semester.
Beginning Guitar: 8:30-9:30 A.M.
Class for those who have not played guitar before.
We will be using Progressive Guitar Method for Young Beginners book 1 and
Ernie Ball How to Play Guitar Phase 1.
You can find these methods on Amazon or Haggertys.
Level 2 Guitar: 9:30-10:30 A.M.
Class for those who have done some guitar before and know how to read the notes
on the D string (d, e, f), G string (g, a), B string (b, c, d), high E string (e, f, f#, g, a).
This would be the class for those who need a bit more review of last year's material
before moving on to other positions.
We will be using two books for the 1st Semester.
The Standard Guitar Method by Dick Bennett Book 1 and
Ernie Ball How to Play Guitar Phase 1.
The Ernie Ball Phase 1 book is at Haggertys or Amazon. Additionally they can be found used on DealOZ.
Level 3 Guitar: 10:30-11:30 A.M.
Class for those who are proficient at most of the basic chords and can read the notes on all the strings listed above plus A string notes. We will be cementing note reading and learning notes and chords in a new position.
Books needed: The Standard Guitar Method by Dick Bennett Book 1 and Ernie Ball How to Play Guitar Phase 2.
Optional Extra Book helpful for all 3 levels.
