Choir Director and Guitar Instructor
Rebecca Freidel
Rebecca Freidel started singing with the Elgin Children’s Choir in Elgin, IL when she was 8 years old and thoroughly fell in love with choral music. She took many years of private voice lessons with emphasis in classical and opera genres and earned a diploma in vocal performance from the UK - dipABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). She also sang with Heartland Voices in Elgin, IL as an adult. Rebecca directed four children’s choirs in the Chicago, IL area for over 5 years and taught private voice for 15 years. She founded Rapid City Homeschool Music's Allegro Choir in the Spring of 2018. Currently, Mrs. Freidel is one of the worship leaders at Bible Fellowship Church and sings with the Dakota Choral Union.

Band Director
Paula Meloy
Paula Meloy has an undergraduate music degree from Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, in instrumental music and did graduate music studies at the University of Great Falls and has a Master’s degree from University of South Dakota. She has studied flute, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, guitar, piano, and violin with well known collegiate doctorate instructors and one of her jobs was to get flute students ready for a PhD flute instructor. She has taught all band instruments, guitar, and violin privately for almost 50 years. Ms. Meloy was the 5-8th grade band director for 10 years at Bishop Heelen Catholic Schools in Sioux City, Iowa, and taught 5th and 6th grade bands at Douglas Middle School for 8 years in Box Elder, SD.
Ms. Meloy is a past member of the Sioux City and Great Falls Symphonies and has performed as a guest with the Rapid City Symphony. Ms. Meloy has toured with various concert bands, orchestras, jazz, rock, and country bands playing a variety of instruments. She has performed and toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

String Director
Kate Mathews
Kate Mathews is a passionate conductor, bassist, and music educator. As an active musician, Mathews enjoys a busy playing career, performing with the Sioux City Symphony, and other area ensembles, as well as judging and conducting regional festivals and contests. Mathews is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in orchestral conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Mathews holds a Master of Music in bass performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of South Dakota
